Creating a book chapter or article template

Hi: I would like to create a template for book chapters or articles. The layout should look like this: First page has chapter title, large top margin, no header or footer, bottom centre page number. Subsequent pages should automatically revert to the default page layout which has equal margins when ...

OK. So is it the case that the solution outlined for inserting fields + other text in footers/headers only applies if the page number field (for example) is inserted via the toolbar button only and not the (Insert|Page Numbers|...) menu drop down ? Because otherwise, I get a "footer/header not empty ...

Thanks for your reply. Yes, that works as you describe it. However, if I enter the page number using Insert|Page Numbers........I get a message saying the program cannot do this because the footer/header is not empty. However, as you say, if I use the page number button then it's fine. Not sure why ...

Footer text

I want to place page numbers in a footer right aligned and text left aligned in the same footer. It seems this isn't permitted by the program. Is there a work around or have I missed a step? Thanks. John

No, didn't help. I was already running as administrator. When I run the Atlantis executable I get, "Cannot Open C:\Program Files(x86)\Atlantis\Atlantis.ini"

Won't register on Vista 64

Hi: Latest Atlantis installs OK on Vista 64 and accepts my registration key but each time I restart Atlantis it shows unregistered. I'm running as administrator. Is there something I may have missed? Thanks. John

I agree with the last poster. MS has just released beta 2 of Office 2007 and docx is the new MS file format that parallels odt. Also, a converter is available for earlier versions of Office from MS, in anticipation of this move in file format. So it might be worth considering, at least strategically ...

Date format

Hi. Thank you for the new release of Atlantis. I have noticed some speed improvements when loading. Very nice. Regarding date formats, I want to enter dates very simply as: Numeric day (no leading zero) Month (full or abbreviated) Year - with no commas at all between any of the elements. Can this be ...

Smart quotes

I may be missing it, but is there a way to have smart quotes revert to straight quotes when they follow numbers?

Font resizing

In the latest build of Atlantis, I find that changing the font size using keystrokes does not show on the toolbar counter until I move the cursor to a new line. Ie, Ctrl + [ does change font size but the counter does not show it and the effect is not seen until I either press Enter or move the ...

Re: Has Atlantis died a death

I agree, it's gone rather quiet. The problem may be that while Atlantis is one of the most visually attractive word processors to work with, the more one uses it, the more the lack of basic functionality becomes apparent. There are indeed some very nice features but can you keystroke a hanging ...

Cursor

Hi. Atlantis is a superb word processor and has a great deal of potential for future refinement. As a cosmetic issue, I wonder if I could suggest that some work be done on the cursor. I notice that when I change to bold or italic, the cursor becomes bold or italic also. When using larger fonts this ...
