Autocorrect entries lost (once more)

Post by JPh1 »

I didn't update anything, still running 4.4.1.2, yet my Autocorrect entries disappeared.

It happened before, in 2024 -- there is a string of messages on the forum about this.

Shortly after it happened last time I did save my autocorrect entries using Save to File, so I know I can upload those, but in the meantime many corrections were added that were not saved. Is there a way to get those back? There is nothing in the .ini file.

Almost all releases of Atlantis include bug fixes. By not updating your copy of Atlantis you do not get those fixes. Version 4.4.1.2 is not even the latest release of Atlantis 4.x. If you had at least version 4.4.5.5, you could probably retrieve your recent configuration file from the Backup Files folder. Sorry, but not much can be suggested regarding version 4.4.1.2 since it never backs up the configuration file.

On Sept 9 2024, in response to the loss of autocorrect entries, you wrote "Version 4.4.1.2 with a fix will be available later today." And it worked.

There was no sign of a later version with safer Autocorrect. Version 4.4.5 added font formatting, of no importance to me, and I therefore skipped it, as I skipped later releases with mostly cosmetic additions.

I never said that version 4.4.1.2 contained no bugs, and I never suggested that you should stick with it forever. I'm sorry that you have lost some AutoCorrect entries. I can't say what caused this. If it was due to a bug in Atlantis, there are chances that this bug has been fixed in subsequent releases of Atlantis. We may have been talking about a problem that has already been fixed a long time ago. Most releases of Atlantis are not about cosmetic changes. Most of them deliver important fixes. If your copy of Atlantis was up to date, it would be easier to suggest some solutions. Sorry, but we can't start hunting for bugs in a 2-year-old version of Atlantis.
