Atlantis 'Options...'
Atlantis 'Options...'
I noticed today, that even though I checked the box 'Always Show Full Paths' under the 'General' tab, the header in Atlantis only says

[C:\My Documents\...\Silly stuff :-/.rtf]

instead of

[C:\My Documents\Docs\Silly stuff .rtf]

So, what's 'full path' if not the second version I've written here?

Go figure, ::)Van

Re: Atlantis 'Options...'
Van, the Full Path does not mean that any filename will contain the names of all the folders from the folder tree. Your filename might be very long. Such filename could not be used for the main menu commands. When your filename is too long, Atlantis replaces some folder names with dots.

When the Show Full Paths option is off, Atlantis might do not display folder names and disk letters at all.
Re: Atlantis 'Options...'
Well, thanks for telling me anyway, at least now I can stop shouting at my monitor... "What's this, I said full path ???" ...every time I open a doc

It was making me a bit hoarse already...

Van

Create Backup Files option...
I don't usually use this option because I find that my folders are cluttered up with '.bak' files, making these folders difficult to survey, finding stuff in them 'by hand' ...

How about the possibility of selecting a special destination for these .bak files, their own "Atlantis.BAK" folder where they would reside untill needed. I don't like them being mixed among my normal documents - .rtf

This would work similarly like the selection of the default folder for saving docs that we have now.

One more query.
The 'Safeguard' feature doesn't create any files on disk that I noticed, it likely only demands a bit more of computing resources (disk space?) to recover from crashes. Am I right? And only during the time that Atlantis is open? Not sure about the exact mechanism of this option...

Van

>How about the possibility of selecting a special
>destination for these .bak files

It might produce numerous conflicts. You might open several documents with the same name but from the different folders. All these documents would have the same corresponding .bak file.
This is a general practice.

About the 'Safeguard' feature. The safe copies are saved to the "C:\Windows\Temp". Though you do not need this info in order to use this feature. Atlantis would restore documents from these safe copies itself. You should not care about this at all. Just enable the Safeguarding. Atlantis will do its best.

If your computer is too slow or/and your hard drive has not enough free space, you might wish to disable this feature. As well as if you do not need the "Click & Type" feature, you can disable it.

Different people - different tastes... But you have a choice...

By the way, the safeguarding is activated by default.
