Hi everyone!
I have been using Atlantis for four years and it has gotten better and better; I like using non-MS products but am not savvy enough at this point to get rid of the windows operating system.
I have a new computer on the way and have some questions about it and Atlantis.
My current machine is running Win95, the new one will have XP - will the same version of Atlantis work on the XP system?
I have a registered version of Atlantis - how do I get it to the new machine? I have only a 3.5" disc drive on my old machine.
Any help appreciated,
steve

No problem. Atlantis runs on all Windows platforms, including Windows XP, of course. By the way, Windows XP is a superb system, much nicer and much more stable than Windows 95. You'll love the change.
About re-installing Atlantis on your new system, here is how to proceed:
First, you need to save a number of configuration files from your old installation (I am assuming that you want to keep all elements of customisation). You can copy these files to floppy or burn them to CD:
1. Atlantis.ini
Launch Atlantis (if Atlantis is not running yet).
Click Tools | Options...
Click the Save Settings to File... button.
Save the Atlantis global settings as Atlantis.ini.
Copy this Atlantis.ini file to the floppy or CD.
Later on, you will copy this file to the main Atlantis installation folder on your new system.
2. My Atlantis.ats
Launch Atlantis (if Atlantis is not running yet).
Click Tools | Toolbars...
Click the Save to File… button.
Save your current toolbar settings as Atlantis.ats.
Copy this My Atlantis.ats file to the floppy or CD.
Later on, you will copy this file to the main Atlantis installation folder on your new system.
3. My Format Palette.fpl
Launch Atlantis (if Atlantis is not running yet).
Click the down arrow attached to the “Format Brush” toolbar button.
Click “Customize Palette…”
Click the Save As Custom Palette… button.
Save your current Custom Palette settings as “My Format Palette.fpl” or any other convenient name.
Copy this My Format Palette.fpl file to the floppy or CD.
Later on, you will copy this file to the main Atlantis installation folder on your new system.
4. Custom templates.
If you have created custom templates, you might want to save them.
Using the Windows Explorer, go to the Atlantis installation folder. Open the Templates sub-folder. Search the template sub-folders for any custom template that you might have created.
Copy these custom templates to the floppy or CD.
Note that you don’t need to copy the Atlantis original templates. These will automatically be re-installed with Atlantis on your new system.
Also note that these custom templates will have to be placed to the same Atlantis installation sub-folder (…\Templates) on your new XP system.
4. userdicen.tlx
You also need to save any personal spellchecking user dictionaries that you might have created.
Using the Windows Explorer, go to the Atlantis installation folder. Open the Spellcheck\Lex sub-folder. Copy “userdicen.tlx” (default user dictionary) and any other custom dictionaries if you have created any. Note that these user dictionaries will have to be placed to the same Atlantis installation sub-folder (…\Spellcheck\Lex) on your new XP system.
5. Save your registration number to a file and copy that file to the floppy or CD. In this way, you will be able to copy/paste it your registration number to register your new Atlantis install later on (Help | Enter Registration Code…)
So now you have all these custom files on floppy/ies or CD. You will be able to copy them to their target folders when you have installed Atlantis on your new system.
The best way to install Atlantis on your new system is to go to the Atlantis site and download the latest available version from http://www.rssol.com/en/html/export/downloads.htm
When you have downloaded “atlant15om_en.exe”, go offline and run this Atlantis installation file on your new system. Follow onscreen instructions.
When the new install is complete, you can copy all or part of your old customisation files from the floppy or CD to their target folders or sub-folders.
Don't hesitate to contact the Atlantis support team at comment@rssol.com if you need any further help.
Cheers

Robert,
HELP!!
I cannot see my registration code. When I go to Options>Enter Registration Code it only asks if I want to change the code. If I say yes, I get the enter boxes that are blank.
Is there a way to find my Reg code? I'm sure that I had it written down, but that was years ago.
Any help?
steve

You have 2 options:
A. Retrieve the Atlantis code from your Windows Registry.
Open the Registry Editor on your system (run “Regedit.exe”).
Navigate to the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Rising Sun Solutions, Inc.\Atlantis.1_x\RegInfo
Double-click the "RegCode" key on the right.
Right-click the highlighted value and select copy from the menu.
OK out of the dialog. Close the Registry Editor.
Paste the current clipboard contents into a new Atlantis document. Save this document and copy it to a floppy for future reference.
B. Send a message to support@rssol.com with your personal details (name, surname) and the email address you used when registering. Ask for your code.
Cheers
Robert
