When I use windows explorer for searching text in documents that I have save with Atlantis in MSWord format (doc), the windows search tool doesn't find them... When I have saved them in rtf format it works OK and finds them. It finds them also, when I save them in doc format with MSWord. Do you have any idea why that happens?

The Windows Text Search is working on my Windows XP system, whether the document was created in Word or Atlantis.
However, note one important thing: Windows finds the target texts only when the corresponding documents are not open, either in Atlantis or Word.
So the difference might not be between Atlantis and Word DOC files, but between documents that are open, and documents that are not open.
If this is not the case on your system, could you please send sample documents to comment@rssol.com, some whose text is found by Windows, others whose text is not found.

It has to do with file associations: When doc format is associated with MSWord everything is OK. When is associated with Atlantis, searching greek text in files doesn't work, except if I open the document with Word and save it again... The documents in Word 6 format rather work OK in all cases - I'm not sure. (The opposite happens with rtf format. I cannot find greek text in these files when they are associated with either programs, except when I save them with Atlantis, but only in the case I have allready selected the "super compact" option...). Thank you anyway.
Could you create a test document with Greek letters in Atlantis, save it as DOC, then open this document in your MS Word, then save it again, and send this DOC file generated by MS Word to betatesting@rssol.com ?
Thanks for the DOC. Yes, the Search feature of Windows Explorer cannot find UNICODE text stored in binary DOC files and in RTFs. It also does not understand the traditional 4-byte notation of extended characters used in non-compact RTFs.
Your MS Word has saved your Greek text in UNICODE too. But unlike Atlantis, your MS Word has also included fragments of your text in ANSI coding to some of its private sections within the DOC file. The Search feature if Windows Explorer has no support for RTFs or DOCs. But it can find these fragments in ANSI coding.
But this will not work in a vast majority of cases. MS Word cannot include one more copy of your entire document text but in ANSI coding. If your MS Word 97/2000 DOC file contains characters that cannot be represented in the West European ANSI code page (1252), in most cases the Windows Search feature could not find these characters in your DOC file.
Characters are always saved in ANSI if you save your document as MS Word 6.0/95 DOC (both in Atlantis and MS Word). In addition, you could use the supercompact RTFs in Atlantis.

Sorry, but currently there are no plans to include support for the StarWriter or Textmaker file formats.
