Icon Prioblems with 1.54.7

Post by Melgund »

:(
Lots of nice new features in the new beta but none of the icons in the tool bars or menus display properly unless I use the "Large Button" option.
I am running XP Professional with SP2.

By the way, I initially installed 1.5.4.7 over my exisiting (1.5.3) version of Atlantis.
When I noticed the icon problem I then did an uninstall and then reinstalled in the same (now empty folder). My old preferences came back in the new install so I assume that the registry setting stayed the same.

I think you should tell folks to do a clean install if that is needed. I'm sure there are other lazy testers out there.

Hope this helps.

What do you mean "icons do not display properly"? How do they display on your system?

Clean install is not needed.

When viewing icons in small mode they appear all black, no graphics. You can't tell what each icon does unless you hover to see the hints. If you select large icons they display properly.

That's exactly what happens to me as well.

Very similar happenings here also. Icons have dark green background with 1547. When using "large icons" icons look as they should.

WOnderful new features, just this 1 icon color bug at the moment.

Also , it does appear the uninstall of atlantis does not clear the registry, should it?

It is very surprising that so many people experience the same problem.
Obviously we cannot reproduce it. Otherwise the beta would not be released.

Could you please tell us about your video cards and Windows color settings (color depth: 256/HighColor/TrueColor)?

Please also try a newer Atlantis.exe (1.5.4.7 a2). Just download the latest executable file from the Betatesting page. Does it make any difference?

The current version of uninstall does not remove the Atlantis settings from the Registry (the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Rising Sun Solutions, Inc." Registry key). In this way you can reinstall Atlantis again, and still have your old settings. But such an option might be included to Atlantis in the future.

If you want a completely clean install, you should entirely remove the "C:\Program Files\Atlantis" folder from your disk, and remove the "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Rising Sun Solutions, Inc." key from the Registry.

Tried clean install removing the registry key, same result.
So Registry clean has no bearing on bug displaying itself.

OK, switched to 16-Bit-modus; now the Icons look as they should! Would be kind if you fix this bug. Thanks for the temporary solution & greetings from Austria! :-)O

This problem is definitely specific to some types of video cards.

Please try a new Atlantis.exe (1.5.4.7 a3) from the Betatesting page.

Those pesky icons

Post by Melgund »

Just tried the A3 verson and the icons still don't work with 32 bit colour. They continue to work fine with 16 bits.
I copied the new verson over the old one.
My video card is an Radeon Mobility 9000 by the way.

Installed A4, and it doesn't work for me either. I have a Radeon 9000/9100 IGP. Setting it at 16 bits resolves the icon issues, but as I do a lot of graphics work (often multitasking with Atlantis), I really don't want to be switching back and forth.
