I'm a writer. And as a writer, my brain really loves to see my manuscripts in two-page viewing mode. This mode lets me read through my stories as if I were holding a book in my hands. It's very conducive to good writing - at least for myself.
Atlantis has a two-page mode, and for what it is, it works. However, even at 60% magnification, it seems to be tight and blurry. In other words, a bit of a strain to read. My eyes are 20/20, and I'm using a 17" monitor.
A friend of mine has Word 2007 (Atlantis is way cooler), and her two-page mode is unbelievable. Crisp, clean, perfectly readable and a joy on the eyes. Fortunately, that's the only feature I like on Word 2007. Anyway, I'm wondering, the Microsoft folks did something with their code to make their two-page mode extremely readable. I think they call it "Clear Type." I'm wondering if that's possible with Atlantis? What a help that would be if you could pull that off.
Thanks for a great word processor. I'm done testing and am buying today. Love it!

Re: text readability in Atlantis
Greetings--
ClearType is a Microsoft utility. If ClearType is not installed on your Windows system, you can improve text readability overall, including in Atlantis, by using the MS ClearType Tuner. The MS ClearType Tuner can be used either online, -or offline after installing the downloadable version available from the Microsoft site.
Online Tuner:
-------------

Downloadable Tuner:
-------------------
http://download.microsoft.com/download/ ... /setup.exe
Generally-speaking, ClearType is a system-wide tuning option under Windows XP and Windows Vista. But Word 2007 has a proprietary ClearType option which is only available under Windows XP. If you activate the Word 2007 ClearType option under Windows XP, the ClearType settings as defined by Word will prevail over the system-wide settings.
Note that the readability of text in Atlantis will improve if you activate and adjust ClearType on your Windows system. Also note that the improvement is more noticeable on LCD screen monitors. It is less noticeable on CRT monitors.
I personally improved the readability of text in Atlantis a great deal by installing ClearType on my Windows XP system and by choosing appropriate ClearType values.
Now here is what you can also do to improve readability of text in Atlantis, especially in the 2-page viewing mode:
1. Open Atlantis, click "Tools | Options..., and check the "Control Board" box under "Full Screen mode hides:" on the View tab.
2. Switch the 2-page viewing mode on.
3. Press F9 to view your document under the Full Screen mode.
As a result, the zooming factor should be bigger, and readability should improve.
Hope this helps.
Cheers
Robert
