I just upgraded my c

Post by bemerson »

I just upgraded my computer to a new Dell Inspiron with Vista Premium installed. As an avid Atlantis user, I naturally made the move to install Atlantis. So far, all is well. It's working great. However, I have not been able to get the sound feature of Atlantis to work properly with Vista. When I say properly, this is what I mean - the sounds work, but they seriously lag behind the press of a key. For example, when I'm typing, I can usually get Atlantis to produce the first typing click (typewriter sound) on first key press, but as soon as I start typing any faster, the typing noise disappears completely. I've disabled all sounds except the typewriter sound, and still, the sound lags way behind the actual key press. The author or Atlantis claims that I have an incompatible sound card. However, just for grins, I went ahead and installed Atlantis on my neighbor's new Vista-based Gateway. Same result. Then I installed Atlantis on my girlfriend's Vista-based Inspiron E1505, a very popular computer. Still, the same result. Lastly, I installed Atlantis on another friend's Vista-based HP computer. Same result. So that's three different brands of computer, all very popular, and all not working correctly with Vista and Atlantis. I'd be curious to know how many of you out there have a Vista-based machine that works perfectly with the sound feature of Atlantis. When I say perfectly, I mean, get on it, type up a document, and see if the typewriter sound keeps up with the keystrokes. In summary, my new notebook is a Dell. My girlfriend's notebook is a Dell. My neighbor's notebook is a Gateway, and my other friend's notebook is an HP. All popular brands. Is there something that we are all doing wrong to prohibit Atlantis from working with our sound cards? If so, please enlighten me. I'm lost without my noisy Atlantis.

Are you sure that you are using the latest version of Atlantis - 1.6.1.7? Please choose the "Help | About..." menu command of Atlantis for the version info.

Uh, I'm not sure who "bemerson" is, but he/she copied my previous post verbatum, right down to the part about my girlfriend. Check my post dated June 21, 2007 titled, "Atlantis Sounds and Microsoft Vista not compatible." Maybe my post was worded so well that someone felt they needed to plagiarize it? After all, I do write for a living.

Or maybe someone is just messing with the good folks at Atlantis who work hard to keep this forum factual and informative?

Either way, whoever bemerson is, please take the time to write your own original query. And if you absolutely have to steal someone else's words, at least change something up, make it look like you put a little creative effort into it. I'm flattered that you felt my wording was appropriate for you, but I'm freaked out by it just the same. That's just wierd. Please be wierd with someone else's words. Thanks for your understanding.

Hi, John.
Sorry about this.
We did have a feeling of "déjà vu" when we read that post.
But we failed to connect it to your own post.
It seems that "bemerson" is using the Atlantis forum to promote Web sites of interest to him.
We'll be monitoring his posts closely and ban him from the Atlantis forum if this should go on.
Thanks for reporting this.
Cheers,
Robert

We have realized that the email address he gave is linked to a domain widely used by spammers and the like.
