Move toolbars
Move toolbars
I'd like to be able to move toolbars from one row to another and to the horizontal position I choose, please. This is a standard feature in most of the major word-processing programs. I have relatively few buttons on each of the three toolbars I use most often, so all three toolbars would readily fit onto two rows instead of the present three. The more screen space is available for the document I'm working on, the better. Many thanks,
Hi Brian,
You cannot move toolbars from one row to another in Atlantis, but you can achieve pretty much the same if you move commands around and place them on the toolbars that suit you best.
As a matter of fact, you can
1. Display all or none of the toolbars (“View | Toolbars > Hide All/Show All”),
2. Display any one or several of the available toolbars (“View | Toolbars > Standard, Formatting, Extended, Preview”),
3. Customize your toolbars (“View | Toolbars > Customize…”) so that you end up with only the commands that suit your needs on any one of the toolbars.
In practical terms, you could place all commands on one single toolbar alone (let’s say, the “Standard” toolbar) and not use (not display) the other toolbars at all.
If the commands you need would fit on two of the toolbars, move these commands around and place them on these two toolbars only. You could also place them on one single toolbar only but on alternative sets of toolbars (press Ctrl twice to change toolbar set). Note that you can move commands around on your toolbars in the “View | Toolbars > Customize…” dialog by simple drag & drop.
Now if you want to maximize screen (working) space, you can also use the Full Screen mode (F9). Note that Atlantis allows you to customize the Full Screen mode to your liking. You can choose which elements of the Atlantis GUI are displayed in the Full Screen mode. Have a look at the “Full Screen mode hides” option on the “View” tab of the Atlantis main options (“Tools | Options…”)
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Robert

Thanks for responding. I'm pleased to say I had already managed to figure out the bit about moving all my favourite commands onto two toolbars before I read your post.
As it happens, I much prefer using keyboard shortcuts to issue commands, but as a new user of Atlantis I haven't yet worked out how many of my favourite commands can be linked to the keyboard. For example, I often use the commands to `change text to sentence case' and `change text to heading case', both of which seem to be available only as toolbar buttons (and with long text labels instead of icons, at that).

The Sentence and Heading case patterns have no hot keys by default, but you can use the “Tools | Hot Keys…” dialog to assign custom hot keys to them. They are referenced in the “All Commands” category respectively under “Change text case (Headings)” and “Change text case (Sentences)”.
Note that the Sentence case pattern is automatically applied to all newly typed sentences if you have both “Capitalize first letter of sentences” and “Autocorrect as you type” on in the “Tools | AutoCorrect Options…” dialog.
