Hot keys not saved
Hot keys not saved
I opened the Normal template, assigned hot keys to various heading levels in the Styles dialog, and saved the template. But the next time I opened the program and imported the Normal styles to the document I wanted to work on, the hot-key assignments had all been wiped out. What's going on here, please? Many thanks.
Hi,
Both the Style hot keys and the default Tab positions are saved with the “Normal” template on my system (XP SP3).
Could you please open the Atlantis “Document Formats & Templates” dialog (“File | New > Formats & Templates…”), and check which is your default “Normal” template for RTF or DOC files (whichever is your default file format)?
By default, your default “Normal” template should be “Normal.rtf”. If it is a different file, you have to open that custom file if you want to save changes to your default template.
Now here is how to save changes to your “Normal” template:
1. Open the “Choose Document Template” dialog (“File | Document Templates…”)
2. Select and open your default template.
3. Display the Control Board if it isn’t already displaying (F6).
4. Click to display the Control Board Styles panel (4th panel from the left).
5. Select the Style to assign hot keys to.
6. On the Control Board bottom toolbar, click “Modify style” (2nd button from the left).
7. In the “Edit Style” dialog, click in the “Hot key” box.
8. Key in any appropriate hot key.
9. OK out of the “Edit Style” dialog.
10. Double-click the horizontal ruler (or click “Format | Tabs…”) to open the “Tabs” dialog.
11. Set the “Default tab positions” to the required value.
12. OK out of the “Tabs” dialog.
13. Press “Ctrl+S” or click “File | Save…” to save your default template.
14. Press “Ctrl+W” or click “File | Close” to close your default template.
From then on, the settings saved in your Normal template will apply to all new documents created with “Ctrl+N” (or “File | New | Document”).
Note that the new settings saved in your Normal template won’t apply retroactively to documents that were previously created using a template with different settings. If you want “old” documents to behave as if they had been created with your new default settings, you’ll have to open and reformat them accordingly.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Robert

Thanks for this, but I thought I had made it clear that I already implemented the changes I wanted in the Normal template, then imported the relevant styles into the `old' document I was working on. The main style elements were intact (font, paragraph, etc) but not the hot keys. This is in Vista Home Basic SP1.
To import styles from another document or template, you could do the following:
1) Choose the "Format | Style..." menu command in the target document (where you would like to import styles to), and click the "Import..." button.
or
Click the "Import styles" button at the bottom of the Styles panel of the Atlantis Control Board.
2) Click the document or template whose style(s) you would like to import to the active document. On the below screen capture, styles from the "Normal" template would be imported:
3) Choose a style (or multiple styles) from the "Styles to import" box. To select multiple styles, use Ctrl+Click. On the below screen capture the "Heading 1", "Heading 2", and "Heading 3" styles would be imported:
4) Click the OK button of the "Import Styles" dialog. Atlantis might display the "Replace styles" confirmation:
Click the appropriate buttons of those confirmation messages (if any).
5) OK out of the remaining open dialogs (if any).
Do you import styles in the way described above?

Could you please send your current "Normal" template to support@AtlantisWordProcessor.com?
