Email program

Post by 1953 »

Which is the best e-mail program to use as an accompaniment to Atlantis and why?. I use outlook express, which is nice and easy, and outlook 2000 (which is not)only because I still have word 2000. I would really like to get away from Microsoft. Also any ideas on browsers. I know this is not directly pointed at Atlantis but you folks seem to know what you are talking about. Many thanks.<br><br>

I think that you are using the best currently available email "Simple MAPI"-compatible client.<br><br>You might be interested in reading this thread:<br>http://www.rssol.com/cgi-scripts/forum/YaBB.pl?board=General&action=display&num=987219798

I don't know about email, since I use yahoo for my mail. If you want to get away from Micro$oft for a browser, you can't go wrong with Opera. It's so much faster than either MSIE or Netscape that there's no comparison. You can find Opera (free) at cnet.com or any of many freeware sites. Learning it is a piece of cake. Within ten minutes, I was browsing the web faster than ever before. &nbsp;Highly recommend it.

Yes, Sir! Opera is much faster than the other browsers. The only browser which is compete is Enigma.

<br><br>Technically, the "free" version of Opera is actually adware. I prefer K-meleon, from http://kmeleon.sourceforge.net It's smaller and faster than IE or NS, and is true freeware, unlike Opera.<br><br>For email, I recommend Pegasus, a much safer alternative than M$ Offal Excreta<br>

<br><br>Why does Atlantis being a very advanced word processor not able to send email without it being an attachment? will this change in future upgrades?

The problem is in communicating with an email program. To compile email messages Atlantis should be also able to produce HTMLs. Atlantis currently does not support this format.

I am just playing around with my office pc (not the one at home) and trying to send an atlantis-document to my cousin. <br><br>After installing FoxMail 4.1 I got in Word a symbol for FM on which I have only to click to send the letter as an attachment. There is no such function in Atlantis. <br><br>Guess it is a result of the installing procedure of FM. What are you thinking?

I think that FoxMail adds a new custom command to the MS Word toolbars. Probably this command launches FoxMail (a document filename is specified in the command-line).

I left Outlook Express because of security lacks and after testing most of the alternative E-Mail programs (Pegasus, GeMail, PostMe, FoxMail, Eudora, PocoMail, TheBat, Thunderbird, M2(Opera), AK-Mail, Phoenix) I choosed FoxMail 5.0. Now FoxMail is my Standard-Mail-Client, but unfortunately I noticed that the E-Mail tool of Atlantis doesn't work any longer :-( ! Isn't it possible to send the current Document with Foxmail?

Greetings--
You might want to try this:
1) Open Foxmail.
2) Go to Options | Preferences | General tab.
4) Click "Check if Foxmail is the default mail client".
5) Click "OK".
6) Go to Windows Control Panel | Internet | Programs tab and select Foxmail as the default mail program.
Please let us know if this helped.
Cheers
Robert
