Booklets

Post by Shanforest »

I cannot use the Booklet finction because I can only print single side pages.

But Atlantis is clever enough to calculate booklet layout already.
So surely there is a way to help me design the pages and print one double page (2 X A5) at a time?

So Atlantis shows me I have 8 X A5 pages in my Booklet.
I can adjust the page content so it fits neatly on each page.
I can also check which page will be opposite another page in the Booklet.

Then I print e.g. 10 copies of the first double page in the Booklet
(Booklet pages 8 and 1)
Atlantis can tell me to print Booklet pages 7 and 2 on the back.
That is the first double sheet.

Then the 3rd and 4th prints to make the other double sheet.

Then I collate by hand.

Hi,
Please have a look at the “Handling Documents > Printing Documents > Printing Booklets” topic in the Atlantis Help (F1). This is also available online at Printing Documents – Printing Booklets.
Among other things, it says this:
“Booklet printing automatically uses Two-sided printing. Also 2 pages per sheet are used by default.”
This does not mean that your printer must have Two-sided printing capability. It only means that you will have to print a first batch of pages where only the front sides will print. Then you have to put the printed pages back into the printer feeder. There is a correct way to reinsert the pages depending on your particular printer. Some amount of trial and error might be unavoidable. Also simply follow onscreen instructions.
This said, you only have to compose your document like any other document. Atlantis will automatically take care of the rest when you select the “Booklet” option in the Print dialog. Only specify “Max” (pages) if you want to print a single booklet.
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Robert thank you for your characteristically helpful and courteous reply.

I run an online high school - live classes are given by chatroom.
I require ALL my staff and students to get Atlantis for compatibility and so I can give support on a program I know so well and find so excellent.

Thanks again.
