I have found a very useful key combination in a simple text editor I use, which is used by a couple of text editors.
Use the Ctrl key with the up or down arrow to scroll. Especially on long text documents - 60 lines or more.
It's very much like using scroll lock, but far better.
In fact it seems best way I have experienced scrolling through a document.
No groping for the mouse.
The caret never disappears from the screen, top or bottom.
Release the Ctrl key and you can move the caret to a line needing attention.
This would be a very useful feature in Atlantis Draft View, because Atlantis is where the document will end up eventually.
Could it be done in Atlantis?
I use this text editor every day, not only to create documents, but for reading through long documents prior to harnessing Atlantis to produce an effective and acceptable layout.
Any comments?
Peter.
Would this be useful?
Hi Peter,
If I press the “PageDown” arrow key, the document window is scrolled down by about 36 lines (actually the current screen height). If I use the “Ctrl+PageDown” combination, the document window is scrolled down one whole logical page at a time.
Of course if I press the basic “DownArrow” key, the document window is scrolled down line by line. But if I use the “Ctrl+DownArrow” combination, the document window is automatically scrolled down to the beginning of the next paragraph.
Also, “Ctrl+End” takes you to the end of the document, “Ctrl+Home” to its top.
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Peter,
I see what you mean now. If I use “Ctrl+DownArrow” in Notepad2 or Notepad++ , the caret remains in place and the lines of text move up. In Atlantis, as in most word processors (e.g. MS Word, OpenOffice.org Writer), “Ctrl+DownArrow” takes the insertion point to the next paragraph. So things could not work in the same way in Atlantis as they do in Notepad2 or Notepad++.
