What writers need...

Post by billybob »

Atlantis has the potential of being THE word processor for writers. It's almost there. It's fast, lean, and reliable. I applaud the recent addition of MS Word compatability, because that is the format (whether we like it or not) that is required in most submissions. I think Rising Sun needs to implement two more features to complete the package:

1) Headers and footers. This is an absolute must, and I believe RSSOL will release this feature when it is ready and fully implemented. It's been promised for awhile, but I am patient. Release it when it works.

2) Master documents. The ability to create a master document composed of separate individual files (in my case, individual chapters), that can be expanded into a single, editable document would be very beneficial. It would enable a writer to work with individual files (chapters), in manageable sizes, then expand them (into a book, for example), to apply Headers, Footers and consistent page numbering over the entire manuscript. This feature works well in WordPerfect, but has always been a disaster in MS Word. Any chance of seeing this feature in a future Atlantis release?

As far as the requests for a built-in thesaurus, my vote is to leave it out. I use WordWeb v.2, which integrates perfectly with Atlantis, operating from an icon in the system tray.

I look forward to Atlantis' future, and thank Rising Sun for their careful implementation of needed features.

Headers! Footers! And a german version for me and a Tagalog-version for our pal in the Republika ng Pilipinas. . .

Well, headers and footers will come. I am sure that they will come. But I have no great hope for a german version in the next time as there probably not so many customers in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Tagalog-Version will need for the same reason even longer.
