Replacing straight quotes with curly quotes

Post by Sentosa »

I have a novel with includes in excess of 100,000 beginning and ending straight quotes.

A publisher is interested in the novel, but has requested I change the quote style to smart or curly quotes.

I've tried every technique I can think of, but none worked. I'm somewhat reluctant to manually change these.

Has anyone found a way to do this?

Tried a different approach and it worked.

The easiest way to do this is through “Tools | AutoCorrect…”
Atlantis will offer to replace “straight” with “curly” quotes.

I find that works with new documents, but not with existing docs.

Atlantis has 2 modes of AutoCorrect:
A. AutoCorrect AS-YOU-TYPE
B. AutoCorrect AFTER-YOU-TYPE

AutoCorrect AS-YOU-TYPE works automatically when the “Autocorrect as you type” box is checked in the “Tools | AutoCorrect Options…” dialog.
AutoCorrect AFTER-YOU-TYPE applies only if you run the “Tools | Autocorrect” command.

As the names indicate, AutoCorrect AS-YOU-TYPE works as you edit documents, old or new; AutoCorrect AFTER-YOU-TYPE works only on already created documents.
