RTF-Format -Probs with Textmaker (supercompact RTF)

Post by mandrael »

Textmaker is also installed on my machine and I tried to open Atlantis documents. Word hadn't any problem with it, but Textmaker lost paragraphs and had a really big problem with columns... Atlantis reads TM-Formats well, but it doesn't work the other way round. By the way, if the document is saved as doc-file, TM can read it without an error... wait a minute I got an idea.
YES it works: :D I turned the Option "Save as supercompact RTF-document" off. And now it works perfectly. I checked out the file size: Its only a few Bytes/10Kb smaller, would say almost ident. So what? :? Is this a bug? Then why Word had no problems with reading it but Textmaker? I thought the difference between normal and supercompact files was only the image format?

Paragraph end marks and extended ANSI characters (with codes greater than 127) in supercompact RTFs are also saved in a special way.

I do not know if this is a bug in Textmaker. Most probably that unlike MS Word, Textmaker does not support the RTF Specification completely.

I would suggest to seperate these two features (supercompact: pictures / text). I want to be shure that the Text-section is displayed correctly on any program! So I'm forced to deactivate this function (file only a few bytes smaller. When I put images into the document I've to activate it again. For me security and standard is more important than size.
Please make one more checkmark in Options!
Thank ya much, Michael (A-Sbg)

[PS.: love Atlantis anyway ;-)]
