Compliments and a Suggestion

Post by mgomgo »

-New columns feature: cool!

-Supercompact RTF feature: Excellent! I have been able to reduce the sizes of some seriously bloated Wordpad docs by about 1/3 with no loss of graphics quality!

-One suggestion: I know you are proud of your product (as you should be!), but how about a registry hack to stop the splash screens when we install a newer version? Including the .cod splash screens, too! Going in and adding "-nosplash" in the registry is a hassle sometimes!

I can see where the splash screen on the freeware version would help encourage folks to purchase the program. But if we already bought the license, it seems to me we could have an option on install to not load the splash screen.

Thanks!
-michael goodrich
Tucson, Az USA

been discussed before, just add 'no splash' to your shortcut like this

"C:\Programs\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe -NoSplash"

in Target (properties of your Atlantis shortcut)

V
Out with it...

I just tried that, so that my shortcut Target read like this:
"C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe -NoSplash"
and when I try, I get this error message: " The name 'C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe -NoSplash' specified in the Target box is not valid. Make sure the path and filename are correct."
Both the path and the filename are correct - any ideas what I might be doing wrong?

If you look at the line I pasted, you will see that there already is a space between exe and -NoSplash

As it turns out, the line should look like this:
"C:\Program Files\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe" -NoSplash
which is what your reply to my question suggested, but was NOT how you phrased it in your inital post, I quote:
"C:\Programs\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe -NoSplash"
That misplaced " in your initial post was the problem. :D

Yes, that's right, but if you look at your initial reply to mgomgo, you will se that that is NOT what you put. Instead, you put,
"C:\Programs\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe -NoSplash"

Of course. By the way, quotes are not necessary in this case at all:

This should work too
C:\Programs\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe -NoSplash
because
C:\Programs\Atlantis\Atlantis.exe
is not a "long filename".

Atlantis Ocean Mind 1.1.2.5 has a new option: “Show splash screen at startup” (“Tools | Options…”, “General”). This new option allows to disable the splash screen in a much simpler way.
