insert bookmark as toolbar button/ Insert menu or both

Post by Shanforest »

PLEASE put the "insert bookmark" back on the Insert menu AND in the toolbar. It doesn't make intuitive sense to have "insert hyperlink" in these places but not have "insert bookmark" next to it. They work as a pair!

I know the Control Panel is powerful but it means
a) opening a different admin area instead of using the familiar toolbars/ menus at the top
b) greatly reducing the viewing area for text - for a complex edit this is a real problem as it means a lot more scrolling as I put in bookmarks
c) opening a third, different facility not standard to all editing programs. I move between various editors in text, coding and graphics so this is intuitively important.

Still Atlantis dedicated from your earliest version and into the future!

Re: Insert bookmark command

Post by Robert »

Greetings--
1. Why not simply use the original keyboard shortcut ("Shift+Alt+B")?

2. Never forget that the Atlantis main menus are entirely customizable. Here is how to proceed to add a "New bookmark" command to your "Insert" main menu:

a. Click "Tools | Menus" to open the "Menus" dialog.
b. In the "Menus" dialog left pane, click the "Insert" button.
c. Choose "All commands" from the drop-down list at the top of the right pane.
d. Click to select the first item ("Separator").
e. Press the "n" key on your keyboard.
f. You should be taken to the "New bookmark" command.
g. Use your mouse and drag & drop to place this "New bookmark" command in your "Insert" main menu.

3. You could also add a "New bookmark" command button (icon) to one of your toolbars. Here is how to:

a. Click "Tools | Toolbars" to open the "Toolbars" dialog.
b. First choose the "main" or "alternative" set of commands.
c. Choose "All commands" from the drop-down list at the top of the left pane.
d. Click to select the first item ("Separator").
e. Press the "n" key on your keyboard.
f. You should be taken to the "New bookmark" command.
g. Choose the target toolbar from the drop-down list at the top of the right pane.
h. Use your mouse within the "Toolbars" dialog and drag the "New bookmark" command button from the left pane to the right pane. Drop the new icon button wherever appropriate among the commands already available on the target toolbar.

Cheers
Robert
