Latest Atlantis News. Other changes and improvements.

The various file dialogs of Atlantis (File | Open, File | Save, Create from Template, etc) are now resizable (note that this feature requires Windows 98 or higher):

You can now adjust the size of these dialogs to your liking. Atlantis will memorize their custom size.

Also the Atlantis file dialogs now offer two types of preview.

With the page layout preview, the document stucture is preserved. This is a WYSIWYG preview actually:

With the readable preview, the document stucture is not kept but Atlantis displays the document contents as legibly as possible:

Those who use encrypted documents in Atlantis intensively might find the following new feature useful. Now when you try to open an encrypted document Atlantis displays this dialog:

You can not only specify a password to open the current document, but also instruct Atlantis to use the same password to open or preview any other encrypted document during the current working session. If you use the same password for many of your encrypted documents, you will not have to type your password again and again for each and every document. Atlantis will automatically try to open any encrypted document with the password last used in the current working session.

Also when you save an encrypted document, you can now instruct Atlantis to memorize the password you entered, and then to automatically suggest using the same password again when you create and save other encrypted documents in the current working session:

Important: Atlantis will never take risks with the security of your encrypted documents. No password will ever be saved to your hard disk. Passwords will be encrypted and stored in RAM for the current working session only. This means that any such stored password will be erased from your computer as soon as you shut it down. In this way, these passwords will be completely irretrievable. However, note that it is generally recommended that a different password be used for each encrypted document when maximum security is required.

This version of Atlantis also has a much faster spellcheck-as-you-type engine which will check most documents almost instantly. Consequently, the refresh rate in the Atlantis document window is now also much faster when spellcheck-as-you-type is enabled. Of course, this will be noticeable especially on slow systems.

Choosing a hot key for a command is now much easier in the “Tools | Hot Keys” dialog. You will no longer have to check if a hot key has already been assigned to another command. A new button is now available to the right of the "Hot Key" entry field:

A click on this "3 dots" button will display a listing of the currently unused hot keys. You can then safely choose a convenient hot key from the list:

A number of Atlantis message boxes include a new “Do not show this message again” check box:

If you always click the same button (Yes, No, Ignore, etc) in such dialogs, you might want Atlantis not to display this kind of dialog again and always assume that you clicked a specific button. For example, when Atlantis displays a dialog saying that a document has been modified, you might always want the changes to be saved without confirmation. In this case, by checking the “Do not show this message again” box, and clicking the Yes button, you will make saving documents without confirmation the default behavior of Atlantis. Atlantis will then display another message informing you that this kind of message will not be displayed again:

Subsequently, messages suggesting to save changes made to a document will not be displayed again until you reactivate them in the “Optional Messages” dialog. The button to open this dialog can be found on the General tab of the "Tools | Options" dialog:

A number of Atlantis dialogs can then be de-activated and a custom default answer recorded:

The AutoCorrect and the spellcheck features of Atlantis are able to recognize most file names in your documents. A new button is available in the “Tools | AutoCorrect Options” dialog. Click this button to open a dialog listing all file extensions currently supported by Atlantis:

File names with extensions found in the above dialog will be recognized by Atlantis as file names, and consequently will not be Auto Corrected or spellchecked. You might want to make changes to this list if your documents include file names with other extensions.
