With the previous version of Atlantis, you were able to perform basic operations on so called column blocks (text fragments selected with the Alt key pressed). But this feature had serious limitations. You had to decide which operation to apply before selecting a block of text. And the selection was not kept after you have applied a command. In the new version of Atlantis, column block selection is a lot more practical. Column blocks are still selected with the mouse pointer and the Alt key held down. But now these column block selections stick after you have released the Alt key. Different commands can be applied to them in succession. Let’s take an example. You could select a column block across a Table Of Contents like so:
Then you can print the selection, place it onto the clipboard, paste it into another document, format it with a different font face or style, or color, etc.
