The new version of Atlantis includes a Control Board as one of its main features. The Atlantis Control Board brings together all the tools and commands that are required to create both simple and complex documents with the greatest of ease. Each panel of the Atlantis Control Board deals with one specific characteristic of the active document. You have separate overviews of the document Headings, Bookmarks, Sections, Styles, and Lists. What's more, all related commands are directly available from each dedicated panel of the Control Board. Tools and commands to manage Headings are on hand on the “Headings” panel, tools and commands to manage Bookmarks are on hand on the “Bookmarks” panel. Etc. Note that the Format Palette and the Clip Library are now also run from the Atlantis Control Board. You can show/hide the Atlantis Control Board in three different ways: using the “Control Board” command from the “View” main menu, the corresponding hot key (F6), or toolbar button:
The Control Board is docked on the left edge of the Atlantis document window and is resizable (you can grab its right edge with the mouse and drag until you get the desired size):
The Format Palette, the Clip Library, the Headings, Bookmarks, Sections, Styles, and Lists panels are displayed using the corresponding buttons at the top of the Control Board:
Each Control Board panel has its own toolbar with a specific set of tools and commands to deal with the corresponding document component (Headings, Bookmarks, Sections, Styles, or Lists). These dedicated toolbars are located at the bottom of each panel.
The first button on the left of the Control Board top toolbar brings up the “Headings” panel:
The “Headings” panel displays the document structure as an outline according to the various document heading levels and captions:
You can click a heading in this outline to display the corresponding heading in the document window:
Also as you you navigate through the document window, Atlantis detects the heading closest to the caret and automatically highlights the corresponding heading on the Control Board “Headings” panel. In this way, you always know where document navigation has taken you. Various operations can be performed on the document headings after the corresponding headings have been selected in the “Headings” panel. Most of these commands are available from the dedicated toolbar located at the bottom of the “Headings” panel:
The document headings (with or without the associated body text) can be selected, deleted, converted to body text, promoted or demoted after you have selected the corresponding heading(s) on the “Headings” panel. All these operations are done in a most practical way simply using the dedicated toolbar buttons located at the bottom of the “Headings” panel:
Multiple headings are selected in the document by holding the Ctrl or Shift key down and clicking the corresponding headings on the “Headings” panel:
You can also use you Drag & Drop in the “Headings” panel to reorder the structure of the active document. As you drag headings up or down on the “Headings” panel and change their position, the corresponding headings and their associated text are moved accordingly up or down the document itself. The chapters of the active document can be reordered by dragging the relevant headings up or down in the “Headings” panel:
Dragging the selected heading(s) in a horizontal direction instead of up or down promotes or demotes the corresponding heading(s) in the active document:
Additional commands are available from the right-click context menu in the “Headings” panel:
