- The "Insert | Hyperlink..." dialog has new features:

- Hyperlinks can now target bookmarks in a different document.
When you click such hyperlinks, Atlantis automatically opens the target document and takes you to the related bookmark.
- You can also specify relative or absolute file paths for hyperlink targets.
- Hyperlinks with relative paths to their target files include only the information necessary to reach the target file from the source file. In other words, it does not matter where the source file is located, the hyperlinked file is identified by its position in relation to the source file within the same folder tree. Relative paths in hyperlinks are particularly useful if you move whole groups of folders and subfolders to other locations on the same drive or on a different drive. If these folders contain documents with hyperlinks, these hyperlinks will still be working after you moved the folders. Let's take an example. If the full file path of the active document is C:\Documents and Settings\John\My Documents\Doc1.rtf, and you want to create a hyperlink with a relative file path to the document C:\Documents and Settings\John\My Documents\Special Documents\Doc2.rtf, Atlantis will create a hyperlink containing the relative file path Special Documents\Doc2.rtf. This will be enough to open Doc2.rtf from Doc1.rtf, even if the host folders have been moved to another location on your disk so that the new full paths of these two files are, let’s say, D:\Documents and Settings\John\My Documents\Doc1.rtf and D:\Documents and Settings\John\My Documents\Special Documents\Doc2.rtf.
- A hyperlink with a full file path to its target file always includes the drive letter and all the folder and subfolder names required to access the linked file. In other words, full file path hyperlinks contain hard-coded links to their target files. You will use such hyperlinks only if you are sure that the folders containing the hyperlinked documents will never be moved to another location.
- The "Insert | Field..." dialog now includes two variants of the "Style Reference" field:

- A version displaying the related paragraph text without its automatic numbering.
- A version displaying only the numbering of the related paragraph.
Let's suppose that you have a document containing a paragraph formatted with the Heading 1 style, and this paragraph is also formatted as a simple numbered list item with uppercase Roman number:
I. This is a "Heading 1" paragraph.
If Style Reference (without numbering) is used as a field in reference to the Heading 1 style, the following text is displayed:
This is a "Heading 1" paragraph.
If Style Reference (numbering only) is used instead in reference to the same Heading 1 style, the following text is displayed:
I.
- Other miscellaneous changes include:
A compatibility solution for the EndNote software.
- Selected text fragments are now showing the extent of the "space before" and "space after" attribute of the related paragraphs:

- The "Tools | Toolbars..." dialog has a new check box to disable the "Double Ctrl" hot key that switches toolbars:

- The "Insert column break" command now has Ctrl+Shift+Enter as a hot key.
- When you sort paragraphs including duplicate items, Atlantis suggests to make a multiple selection of the duplicates:

You can then remove the duplicates (Del key) or deal with them in any suitable way.
- Under Windows 2000 or XP, up to 100 documents can now be opened simultaneously (previously only 50 documents were allowed).
- The "Tools | AutoCorrect Options..." dialog now includes a "Restore Default..." option to restore the default "Replace With" AutoCorrect pairs for the current language:

Also if you have changed your mind, it is now possible to cancel all the changes made in the above AutoCorrect Options dialog (new "Cancel" button).
- You can now specify the default page settings, column settings, zooming factor, initial text of the Clippy Bank. You only need to adjust the "Clippy Bank.rtf" template under the "Templates" folder of Atlantis.
- The Atlantis Toolbar, Sound, and Format Palette settings are now stored in the Windows Registry with all the other Atlantis settings.
".ats", ".asd", and ".fpl" files are no longer used.
- If you send the same text to the Windows clipboard several times in a row, only one instance is added to the Clipboard History (drop-down menu of the Paste toolbar button) or to the Clippy Bank (when "Clippy Bank collects clipboard data" is on).
- When you add text to the Clippy Bank (either with the "Append to Clippy Bank" command or by copying text to the Windows clipboard when "Clippy Bank collects clipboard data" is on), Atlantis displays the following optional message when the caret is not located at the end of the Clippy Bank contents:

- If you right-click a document or graphic file name in Windows Explorer and choose "Copy" from the pop-up menu, you can subsequently paste the contents of the file into Atlantis.
- Intercharacter spacing has been improved for some font faces and sizes.
- The Windows Taskbar can now be displayed even when the Atlantis Full Screen mode is on (F9).
- The "View | Special Symbols" is now a global mode shared by all open documents. The formatting special symbols are either hidden or visible in all open documents.
- The Atlantis Document Bar is shown or hidden irrespective of which view mode is active.
- The "Format | Default Language..." dialog has a new design:

The "Default language" feature now works in a simpler and more consistent way. It no longer matters if you type or paste text. Any newly added text is automatically associated with the current default language.
- The "Document window" options have been removed from the "View" tab in the "Tools | Options" dialog (all these options are still available from the "View" main menu):

- The old "Picture drawing" settings

are replaced with a single option, i.e. "Picture placeholders":

- The "Hot Calculator" tab has been removed from the "Tools | Options" dialog. The former Atlantis "Hot Calculator" is replaced with a "Calculate" feature. It is a more practical feature with better support for currencies.
- The "Spellcheck" tab of the "Tools | Options" dialog has a lighter, more user-friendly design:

- The "Spellcheckers & Dictionaries" dialog has also been redesigned. It now includes a "Cancel" button:

- Atlantis has better support for some subtypes of PNG images.
- "Floating" images from DOC files are now loaded by Atlantis as inline images (in older versions of Atlantis they were simply omitted).
- The "Edit" tab of the "Tools | Options..." dialog includes one more new option:

- When this option is on, you can follow ("open") hyperlinks only by Ctrl+clicking them.
- When this option is off, there is no need to hold the Ctrl key pressed to follow hyperlinks. A single mouse click is enough.
- Now Atlantis creates safe copies ("Tools | Options > Load / Save > Safeguard every XX minutes") for the Clippy Bank.
