In addition to better English spellcheck lexicons, this release includes a number of new or improved spellchecking features.

Atlantis can now detect problems with spaces missing before or after punctuation signs. Here is an example:

A space character is missing between "ideas," and "we". Right-clicking the red-underlined string brings up suggestions for a proper replacement:

The Atlantis spellchecker now detects more misspellings and makes better suggestions in most cases.

Sounds

This release of Atlantis has a new sound engine. Sounds are now played through the Windows DirectX module so that multiple sounds can be played simultaneously. The Atlantis typewriter sound effects are much more realistic. And as an added bonus, there is increased synchrony between key presses and their associated sound effects.

One more improvement is the association of a specific sound with "Possible misspellings". When you have completely typed a word (i.e. you have typed a space character or a punctuation sign after it), and that word is absent from the Atlantis lexicon, the spellchecker will play a sound to warn you about a possible misspelling. This will be of particular help to those of you who type with their eyes on the keyboard and are unable to notice onscreen warnings.
Obviously this function will only be available when that sound is enabled in the Atlantis "Tools | Sounds..." dialog.

The popular WordWeb thesaurus now closely integrates with Atlantis. You will look up English words or phrases in WordWeb directly from the Atlantis window. Click to see how WordWeb is called from the Atlantis document window.
