Atlantis and Avira

Post by lynneconnolly »

Avira constantly marks Atlantis updates as a dangerous virus. I create an exception, but it won't take it.
I can handle the annoyance, but I needed to let you know, because this might put people off getting Atlantis, which would be a shame.

BitDefender is having the same issues with Atlantis. Nowadays, most antivirus software rely on a database of well-known applications. When an application is not ranked within their “big-names” database, they assume it is potentially harmful. This is Artificial Intelligence at its silliest!
Note that it might help to add the whole folder path to Atlantis (with asterisk) to the Avira exclusion list:
"C:\Program Files\Atlantis\*" on a 32-bit system
"C:\Program Files (x86)\Atlantis\*" on a 64-bit system
HTH.

We have just reported these issues to Avast, Avira, and BitDefender. Thanks.

None of the 67 engines of virustotal.com (including the engines of Avira and BitDefender) report issues with the setup file of Atlantis Word Processor. This is strange enough.

Just to make sure, I checked all the places in the Registry which would contain that particular virus, and there was nothing. Totally a false positive.

A reply from Avast:
The provided file doesn't seem to be detected by Avast. Could you please send us a screenshot of the detection message you're getting? https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article ... screenshot
If the problem reoccurs, could you please make a screenshot and send it to us or directly to Avast?
