altantis slow...

Post by jeffp6155 »

hi - when i'm working with a RTF document over 20 pages the typing becomes extremely slow and difficult, it could take one second to delete each character, etc. it's not the computer (new up-to-date machine). the sluggishness seems to be based on the size of the document. is this consistent with other users? thanks, jeff (ps - otherwise I enjoy this program immensely).

Document size is unimportant.

How many paragraphs are contained by your document (Tools | Statistics)?

Please try to disable sounds (Tools | Sounds, Disable All). Did it work?

Thanks for your document.
The problem is that it contains a huge paragraph. This paragraph contains about 30,000 characters. Atlantis performs spellcheck-as-you-type paragraph-by-paragraph. Every time you make changes to this huge paragraph, Atlantis has to re-spellcheck this paragraph. This is a quite time-consuming operation.

Solutions:

a) Split that huge paragraph to smaller paragraphs.

or

b) Disable the “spellcheck-as-you-type” (choose “Tools | Options”, “Spellcheck”, uncheck “Check spelling as you type”).

slow down

Post by mirco »

When I turn on one or more sound events in Atlanis 1.1.2.8, the program slows down until there is no reaction when I press any key on the board.

When I turn off the sound event(s) all works again right.

In older versions, there is no problem like this.

Possible reasons:

a) Your sound card driver does not allow to play sounds asynchronously.

b) You have another program which uses your sound card, and this program does not use DirectX to play sounds.
Note: two different non-DirectX applications could not play sounds simultaneoulsy.
