Indication of Heading

I'm not sure this is titled right but Atlantis (and I don't remember which version I was previously using) used to put a little square next to a heading to indicate it had been applied. I'm now using version 4.3.6.2 and there is just a blank space not when you apply a style or a heading. Is there any way what I can get that indicator of a heading applied back? I tried to insert pictures here to show what I mean but I can't get any to insert.

Do you mean the Show paragraph formatting marks option ("Tools | Options... > View")?
