Oh yes, other than lack of table support Atlantis is perfect for my word processing need. Is it really that hard to implement table support? I'm a very amateurish programmer, but I remember I had written a simple word processor with table support that saves RTF. What is the actual problem in your case?

Keep up the good work! Cheers!

Greetings--
Please take a good long hard look at the competition. If developing a stable user-friendly word processor was that easy, there would be a lot more on offer. Also the existing offer might be better designed.
Finally, even though it might not seem so, the table feature ranks among the most complex tasks facing developers of a word processor, —if we want the feature to be complete, stable and user-friendly, of course...

Well I have seen quite a few simple RTF editors that supported tables. They lacked many good features that Atlantis has but it did not seem that implementing tables support was so hard as they were actually freeware. So I find it hard to believe that it should be that hard. What Skylit said supports this.

At any rate it has been two years since I requested this feature (and someone else had asked for it three years ago back in 2001), and I am wondering more and more why it is taking so long.

If I could exchange some of the features that Atlantis has gained since 2001 for tables support I am sure that we could do without many of them such as customizing keyboard shortcuts because tables are a lot more important. And, I believe that you do not have to implement full-featured tables support now. Just basic support so that I can open documents with tables and see them the way they are supposed to be seen, and make some simple tables for myself.

Support for tables is scheduled for the next major release of Atlantis.
A few major releases later and it is still being scheduled... Very disappointing.

I had to work with Word this morning for my boss absolutely wants tables in a doc. I would be happy (at least for the moment) with a function as outlined by Stirlitz (how is weather at the Black Sea, Stirlitz?) in his last posting.

The weather is good. It has been very hot but now it seems to get cloudy and cooler.
