ASCII character inserts

Post by fulcanelli »

I'm still getting familiar with Atlantis. I'd like to be able to enter ASCII characters using the ALT+ and numerical code for ASCII characters entered on the numerical pad.

Possible?

Absolutely. For example “Alt+0165” will insert a Yen sign.
Please always type “0” (zero) before the actual code number.

Are you the company spokes person, Robert?

I know how to add ascii characters. However, this does not work for me. IN fact, you responded to another question of mine (you actually responded to all my questions) about having problems with backspace when I have the shift key down. I'm starting to wonder if both of these problems are somehow linked. I haven't modified Atlantis. Are there any other programs that might interfere? Anything on my computer that might, any basic Windows features or programs? I use some MS office products (Word, Excel, Access), PaintShopPro, CorelDraw, a few music programs, that sort of thing. I don't download music or anything illegal.

Any suggestions here?

Is the Num Lock mode (key) on on your PC?

No it is not. I can access these ascii characters in my Notepad program.

ASCII codes

At this stage it seems the help has dried up! I've followed the same steps as Fulcanelli but I can't get ASCII codes to work either (No problem with Wordpad.) Have you yet, Fulcanelli? Pity, I quite like Atlantis but miss the special characters I could employ with my ancient dedicated word processor with WordPerfect 6.0.

Greetings--
Until you can make ASCII codes work on your system, you could add any symbol or character of interest to one of your Atlantis Clip Libraries. The Atlantis "Symbols" dialog has a convenient "Add to Clip Library" button. Please, have a look at this page:

Works fine for me in Atlantis. I keep Num Lock on by default for that purpose. OS is Win98SE.
