Is it possible to have two Headings that are equal, but formatted differently? In other words, under Heading 1 -- which I will use for chapter or part titles -- I want to have two types of subheads. One will be for recipe titles and the other for text/narrative titles. The recipe titles need to be differentiated from the text/narrative titles, but they don't actually need to be heading 3 -- because the recipe titles are not subordinate to the text titles.
Does that make sense? In the Table of Contents, I want the recipe titles to be in italic (I think), but I don't want them to be listed as subheads of the titles for the text. Of course, I could just do the TOC by hand the way I want, but if I turn the book into an eBook, I want a working TOC with hyperlinks.
Also, is it possible (maybe with hyperlinks or something) to have a second table of contents just for the illustrations?
Table of Contents & Headings
With some efforts, nearly any document layout is possible. You can have any custom TOC with working hyperlinks.
I have composed a sample document (attached). The "Heading 2" style is used for both "Recipe" and "Narrative" headings. But I have manually formatted narrative headings and their corresponding TOC items with italic.

The second TOC in the file -- actually the TOI (illustrations), I guess -- was that done with hyperlinks, or was that done by a chapter break that prevented the first TOC listing what went in the second TOC, or by putting a second table of contents in and somehow that didn't conflict with the first table of contents??
Both TOCs are fully automatic, i.e. there are no manually created hyperlinks. You can easily update both TOCs after adding more "chapters" to your document. Just right-click any of these TOCs, and choose the "Table of Contents | Update Entire Table" menu command.
There are no chapter breaks. And there is no conflict between the TOCs. The first TOC never picks up chapter headings located after the second TOC. When Atlantis updates a TOC, it scans the document text for headings starting from the TOC end to the document end, or until another TOC encountered.
So you could have multiple fully automatic TOCs in your document. Just insert new TOCs to the corresponding locations in your document.
