Images from Microsoft Word 2010 document won't appear.

Post by purcelljf »

I created a document in Microsoft Word 2010. I do this from time to time because I can import an html document into Microsoft Word which I can't do with Atlantis. The document I created has NO tables in it but lots of jpg images. When I try to open this document in Atlantis, only the text appears. I have tried saving to different extensions including rtf, odt and doc with essentially the same results. I say essentially, because when I save it as an RTF and open in Atlantis, Atlantis puts an empty little placeholder bmp file in its place.

Any idea why this is happening?

Could you please email your document file to support@AtlantisWordProcessor.com?

Is “Picture placeholders” checked in “Tools | Options… > View tab”?

Hello, no it is not checked.

P.S.
Admin, I sent the file to you as requested. Thanks.

Thanks for the document file. It does not contain pictures. It contains links to graphic files stored under the following folder on your hard disk:

C:\Users\<your_user_name>\Documents\Working Files Epub\Park Tools\extract\OEBPS\Images\

The present version of Atlantis Word Processor does not support links to external images. But any next release of Atlantis will try to resolve such links in DOCXs by embedding external images into a document. You could see actual images in Atlantis if the corresponding graphic files are still available on your disk.

Just thought I would mention as an FYI that I can resolve this issue by opening the document in MS Word and performing a copy and paste of each image, which embeds the image in the document.

Actually, this is a faster way to embed those images:
