Printable manual

Post by wildchild1954 »

Does anyone know how to get a printable version of the Help files? When I'm trying to figure something out it's a bit hard on my wrists and eyes to be flipping back and forth between windows. I'd like to have the entire Help file printed and be able to just read what I need and follow the instructions without all the back and forthing. Any help with this would be realllllly appreciated. :?

Hi,
You might not actually need to print the whole help. Maybe only a few single pages (topics), or only a whole chapter. This can easily be done.

Here are the steps to print a single topic:
  • 1. Click “Help | Contents”
    2. Display the page you want to print.
    3. Right-click within the page.
    4. Select “Print…” from the context-menu.
    5. Choose any appropriate printer.
    6. Print.
Here are the steps to print a whole chapter with all sub-topics:
  • 1. On the left, select the chapter heading (like “Formatting Documents”, for example).
    2. Click the “Print” button on the Help main toolbar (top of window).
    3. A dialog will pop up asking if you want to print the topic alone or the topic and its sub-topics. Select the second option (second radio button). OK out of this dialog.
    4. In the Print dialog that comes up, choose a printer. Note that you can choose a PDF or XPS printer if you have one installed and you want an electronic PDF or XPS version of the topic and its sub-topics. But, as this is not your purpose, and you want a paper version, choose a hardware printer.
    5. Make sure your printer is on, and click the “Print” button.
HTH.
Cheers,
Robert

Thanks Robert! That's a big help although I would prefer to print the whole thing and keep it in a binder on my desk. That's what I do with other programs that I use a lot.

You only need to print all the chapters, one after the other. There aren’t so many (20 at most).
Note that Atlantis will soon be updated to version 1.6.5.8. The help file will also be updated. It might be wise to wait till the new version is released before printing the help. :)

Robert, I have the beta version of 1.6.5.8. Will the help files be changing when the actual version is published or will they stay the same as the beta version files?

Most likely there will be changes reflecting the new features. It shouldn’t take long now…

Happy Holidays to All! :D
