Atlantis slow or sticky

Post by mhender668 »

When I come back to Atlantis after doing something else for a while, or after having the computer go into sleep mode, Atlantis is very slow and sticky for about thirty seconds. The problem goes away, but it's a little annoying. I know that someone posted something about that a while back, but I can't find the post.

Other than that, it's wonderful.

How much memory is utilized by your Atlantis? When you feel that your Atlantis is too slow, please press Ctrl+Alt+Del, then click "Atlantis.exe" on the "Processes" tab. What's the "Mem Usage" reported for "Atlantis.exe"?

One more question. How much RAM do you have?

Slow Atlantis

Post by mhender668 »

I know it's been a year, but the problem seems to be worse. It sometimes takes several minutes before it is working to speed again. Never had this problem with other word processors on this machine.

I have 1 G of RAM, and Atlantis is using 9,670K memory.

Do you mean 9,670 KB or 9,670 MB? What does your Task Manager report about the "page file" usage?

Do you have any "heavy" applications running now?

Do you have picture-rich documents open in Atlantis?

It said K, as in kilo. It presently says 23,800K (i.e., 23.8 Meg)

No pictures, but a few small files and two large files open (72,000 words and 59,000 words) but happens even if one document is open

Happens even if no other programs running, but only have Google Chrome

Using HP Mini with Windows 7 Starter

First, please try running Atlantis with the factory settings (please read the article completely).

If it did not help, please try closing as many programs running in your Windows as possible. Please monitor RAM, CPU and page file (swap file) usage in Task Manager. Possibly there is another offensive application that is causing a slowdown. If you have an antivirus/firewall or another security-related software running in background, please try disabling it temporarily.
