Error in portable backup folder

When using portable Atlantis I find that the BackupFolder is hard coded in the ini file with the drive letter. This causes an error when inserting the USB stick in another computer where a different drive letter is assigned. By contrast the DocFolder is coded in the ini file with the relative path prefixed with %% instead of the drive letter. I tried manually editing the path for the BackupFolder in the ini file to make it like the DocFolder but portable Atlantis takes exception. Is there a solution?

Hi,
It seems you found a problem. The only solution I can think of right now is to redirect Atlantis manually to the proper drive letter and backup folder through the “Tools | Options > Load/Save” dialog. Don’t attempt to tamper with the INI file directly. As you say, Atlantis is most likely to “take exception”.

You could also use USB Drive Letter Manager for Windows. It is freeware for personal use. Here is from the home site:

USBDLM is a Windows service that gives control over Windows' drive letter assignment for USB drives. Running as service makes it independent of the logged on user's privileges, so there is no need to give the users the privilege to change drive letters.
It automatically solves conflicts between USB drives and network or subst drives of the currently logged on user.
Furthermore you can define new default letters for USB drives and much more.

Hi Robert. Thanks so much for taking the trouble to post two replies. I use my stick in a number of settings where I have limited privileges so I doubt I will be able to use USBDLM (will give it a go but don't think I can start a service). It seems the basic problem here is a bug in portable Atlantis in that the backup folder setting is not portable. Hopefully there will be a proper fix down the track.
