Option to change the key that triggers Power Type

Post by Aitch748 »

If Power Type is enabled, and you're typing the last word in a headline, you sometimes get the popup list of suggested words. It's easy in this situation to hit Enter to go to the next line, and what happens instead is that the suggested word gets inserted instead. It's kind of annoying if you want to end a headline with "type" and Atlantis inserts "typewriter" or "typecast" instead. It also means that you have to watch the screen when typing sometimes.

I know that I can go to Tools | Power Type... to turn the option off, but the option is useful when you're entering long paragraphs. Switching the option on and off would be another pain.

Could you add an option to change the key that selects the Power Type suggestion from Enter to, say, Tab? Maybe with a dropdown list on the Power Type options dialog:

Code: Select all

Power Type trigger key: | Enter |
                        |-------|
                        | Tab |

You might find it helpful to assign a custom sound to the “Power Type suggestions”:

You could use any of the 2 attached WAV files, or any other suitable file.

I'd actually second the request for adding the option to use TAB instead of Enter to activate the top Power Type suggestion.

The main reason is that this same option is present in Libre Office (and probably Open Office), so it's something that I'm used to. I don't know whether it's simply because of that, but somehow it feels more natural for me to press TAB when such an option comes up than ENTER. (And that may apply to more users.)

(Or maybe it's just that in the fairly straightforward word processing that I generally do, I don't use TAB for anything, so it feels 'natural' to use that key for this instead of a key that I use a lot -- but for something else. But that's also personal.)
