how to install fonts?

Post by Peter »

I have 5 fonts showing up in Atlantis Menu of Format/Fonts. Which was fine, but now I need others.
They are installed in my WIN7, since MSWord and others show a long list of installed fonts. How can I install/activate them in Atlantis?
Thank you

Please uncheck the "Use My Favorite Fonts only" box on the "General" tab of the "Tools | Options..." dialog in your Atlantis Word Processor.

I have installed Atlantis Word Processor in Wine on a linux distro. This seems to work fine, except that it seems to have only five Fonts, three of which are unusable, and the rest very similar to each other. So I need to install a few more fonts, and this thread appears to be on that subject. Except that what is suggested here - to uncheck the "Use favourite font only" - does not work for me. Unchecking it makes no difference whatsoever. I assume I need to install new fonts. In the help pages there is a reference to something I think called a font list. I can't find it.

Any suggestions, someone?

Hi Jake,
First, let’s say that Atlantis has native support only for Windows.
Now in Windows, and most likely in Linux, fonts are something that is managed by the system itself. You need to find out how many fonts are actually and normally available in your Linux system. In Windows, you’d need to go to the Windows Control Panel and open the Fonts applet. In Linux, it seems that you could use $ fc-list to list all fonts (see Quickly list all available fonts). For instructions on how to install new fonts in Linux, have a look at How To Install Fonts on Windows, Mac & Linux.
If there are more fonts available in your Linux system than in Atlantis, it could be that “Use favorite font only” is ON in Atlantis. If it OFF, then, I am afraid, you’re on your own! Maybe a seasoned Linux user will offer advice…
HTH.
Happy New Year to All!
