Adding Text Where Text Was Removed

Post by ironhat »

Frequently, I've noticed that adding text where text was removed - such as inserting a better choice of words. Is there a switch in the tools that I have turned on?
TIA

Maybe you turned on “Tools | AutoCorrect Options… > Autocorrect as you type”?

Ugh, I'm getting old... ish. I didn't post this; As I enter the corrected text where I had just deleted the unwanted text, the entry is backwards. Eg. when inserting the desired word where the mistake had been, it would appear as drow (word). I only have to move the cursor to a different location and then, move it back to stop the malfunction. Have you ever heard of this? Is it a known bug?

BTW, the switch was checked and this corrected the problem. Now, however, when I select some text for removal, it cannot be removed by dragging the cursor over the mistaken text and then, with it highlighted, strike the 'delete' or 'backspace' keys and remove it in bulk. I must place the cursor appropriately and remove the text one letter at a time. Does that give you more to go on?

This is not something that would normally happen in Atlantis unless you have got some kind of malware interfering with the Windows clipboard.

The only thing I can think of is that you might have inadvertently(?) switched on support for Right-to-left languages in Windows.

The other day, my keyboard started acting funny. The wrong characters were being inserted into Atlantis. For a few minutes, I wondered what might be wrong with my install of Atlantis. Then, it hit me: I had inadvertently switched on support for the wrong keyboard layout in Windows (10).

HTH.
Cheers.

Again, this should not be happening in Atlantis. Please, try running Atlantis with “Factory Settings” (“Tools | Factory Settings…” menu command). For details, see Factory Settings
